Mia’s, Nikko or I Love Teriyaki. Hard to go wrong with any of them here.

The question is where the bad stuff is. It’s the Puget Sound  equivalent of a taco shop.

Taco shops, on the other hand...

Also, how much free time will you have?

Yeah, at some point I plan on going up there just to go on a teriyaki hunt.  Definitely want to check out Toshi's.

There are many, many good Teriyaki places in Shoreline.  You can’t really screw up.

Awesome, some that Spaceballs pointed out look awesome but they’re a thirty minute drive from where I’m going to be. Manna  looks solid.

Yeah but make sure you go to the Northgate one, the one further north isn’t as good.  Teriyaki Island and Kobe are good too.  Lee’s is a newer place that’s apparently good as well.

Teri, Teppan, and Suki tend to be my three favorites, followed by Soba.

If you had time, I’d say catch a ferry and hit the teriyaki spot on Bainbridge, but it doesn’t sound like you would have the time.

For how many options there are — any how many actual Mexicans their are here — the Mexican food here is  largely bad.

Seriously. It’s shockingly bad. I suspect it’s an effect of the older locals complaining if food has any flavor whatsoever.

Our nanny is from Mexico, lived in SoCal for decades, then moved up here about 5 years ago. She and I go on about how terrible the Mexican food is here and how expensive it is to make here due to the price of ingredients, which probably doesn’t help the situation.

It’s the McDonald’s of ethnic food here. You’re not getting a good product, you’re probably not getting a good price, and it’s just as bad as any other location .

Worst part is my family is PLAGUED with people who always suggest  Mexican when eating out. It's so expensive for a dinner plate, you may as well go out for an average steak at Outback.

The sad and funny thing is that the cafes where I work serve better food than most of the restaurants nearby, plus it’s reasonably priced.

Funny factoid: If the teriyaki place is run by Koreans and they play contemporary Christian music inside , it’s likely that the food will be really good. I don’t know why, but it’s a solid pattern we’ve seen with these places.

That doesn’t make sense, I think you’re confusing terms .

If I drew a circle that contained all the places I’ve heard such music played in a restaurant , a circle containing all the restaurants I’ve ate at in western WA, a circle containing teriyaki places I considered exceptional, and a circle containing Korean-owned teriyaki shops, these places fall right in the middle . I think hearing the music in a restaurant is so unusual up here that it alone stands out, but the three things in common are what stands out in my mind .

Sorry, I’m not trying to argue. It was my off humor not translating we ll over the internets.

What I’m saying makes sense to physicians. What you’re talking about is a Venn diagram, not what I’m talking about.

I’m tal king about a sensory input, be it a shape or sound predicating a specific trait, in this case good food.
